Mid-day MSM Mindset: Corey Hannah
8/3/26
By Monica Collier
Hello, MSM fam!
So, I did a thing yesterday and it was truly the most Sunday funday I've had in a very long time. I wish you all could've witnessed the Fiddleworms’ rehearsal with the Shoals Strings but don't worry friends, I’ve got you covered. I am your behind-the-scenes eyes and ears and it's my pleasure to tell you how it all went down.
Now, I ain’t gonna lie, memaw life has me in a chokehold so I don't get out much anymore. Time passes by way too fast and I’m sad to say it's been about a year since I've seen my beautiful Muscle Shoals Meets family. What they say is true, though, absence truly does make the heart grow fonder.
I rolled up to West 4th Street in Sheffield a little early and was tickled to see Eddie Martin arrive about the same time. So, that question is answered, y’all -- yes, Eddie will be lending his vocals to this 90s round of MSM magic. Malcolm Singleton, too, btw.
Our favorite MSM videographer, Corey Hannah, and his son, Carter, were the next to arrive and seeing them melted me. I was a puddle of feel good emotions, y’all. I think the world of Corey. He’s just the bestest guy ever and I’m forever in awe of his talent. It’s mind boggling to think that Corey and I have been crossing paths our entire adult lives. Yesterday was the first time I met his son, though. I heard Carter tell someone that he's 26. Yeah, I was probably about that age when I met Corey. Our babies are grown, friends.
I found myself a spot in the studio sort of out of sight and out of mind so I could watch everything unfold without hindering the natural progression of things. It’s what I do, friends. I sat in my little corner content to observe and intent on paying super close attention to everything.
I felt a little like the busybody auntie who sees all and knows all and I’m OK with that being my place in the MSM family. For half a second, I thought about “Almost Famous” and fancied myself as “the enemy.” Yeah, that’s funny, me and Cameron Crowe stan too hard and too true to be any sort of journalistic threat. Besides, this MSM family has no secrets, y’all. It’s what you see is what you get with all of these superstars.
Speaking of our superstar family, how great is Jimmy Nutt and his Grammy-winning Nutthouse Recording Studio? He’s a shining star in the MSM family, for sure. The MSM nuts gathering in the Nutthouse doing their 90s thing was pure gold, friends. That’s how we roll in the Shoals.
Stay tuned. More to come tomorrow around noon.
Dig Worms!
