MSM 90s: Chattahoochee, Matt Prater

Muscle Shoals Meets is part of our goodbye to Alabama summer and hello to fall. It's true. There's an ever so slight chill in the air and the "ber" months are just a few hours away. That means, we're finally in the Alabama summer homestretch. We made it through the oppressive summer heat once again, y'all!
Ahhh. That's right, it's Labor Day week. For most of the country, Labor Day marks the official end of summer. For us around these parts, it means summer part two. The heat shifts from hotter n' hell to just right hot for party barging and tailgating -- order depending on game times.
I digress ... speaking of the joys of living in the Deep South, let's talk about our love affair with the Tennessee River. Yeah. Let's talk about Alan Jackson's "Chattahoochee" -- classic ode to river love, btw -- and our favorite new to us MSM artist, Matt Prater. Summer (or fall, or winter, or spring), the river, 90s country, and Matt -- yes, please.
You know what I'm going to say, right? Matt's the real deal. I love his talent but I really love his commitment, too. Matt dazzled us at Muscle Shoals Meets the 70s with his rendition of C.W. McCall's "Convoy." This year, he took the stage in a cowboy hat, super cool shades, and was wearing a life jacket and had a slalom ski in tow. Commitment to "Chattahoochee." I love it. Matt slayed the 90s country Southern summer classic, friends. It was 90s Shoals river party-level fabulous.
Matt is the perfect mix of effortless talent, natural stage presence, and approachable swagger. There's an element of ease about Matt that makes him irresistible. So good.
Looking at Devona Hawkins' photos from the Muscle Shoals Meets the 90s main concert, I see Kelvin Holly was lending his Godfather Fiddle talents to the "Chattahoochee" party. Donny Carpenter was there fiddling up a storm, too. Those world-famous Fiddleworms and friends put on a great show that night, y'all.
