MSM 90s: Sunday Morning Coming Down
8/16/26
By Monica Collier
Good Sunday morning, MSM friends!
The morning after a great show is always a double-edged sword of happy and sad emotions. The morning after closing out NINE DAYS of non-stop music is a new experience for me, friends. It's hitting pretty hard, y'all. The Muscle Shoals Meets the 90s Mixtape Week comedown is proving to be pretty dang intense.
How I feel is like when you were a kid and your amazing summer break came to an end and it was back to dumb ole school again. You always knew summer would eventually be over but when it actually ends, it's pretty freaking sad. It's not going to be easy to slip back into normal everyday living after such a super fun 90s Mixtape Week of MSM events.
I'm reminded of a scene in one of my all-time favorite movies, "Almost Famous." Remember when they're on the bus and William is telling Penny he has to go home? It's clear that he doesn't want to leave but he knows he has to go home. That's us right now, friends. But, thankfully, Russell Mefford is our Penny Lane reassuring us that we're already home. Music is our home. Literally. Ahhh. I feel better now.
Ugh. I am still so sad, though. I can't believe MSM is over for another year, y'all. But, now we can sit back, ponder it all and say, "It was good." Seriously, we did big, friends. Two playgrounds and a $20,000 donation to The Healing Place -- we helped make that happen.
Yeah. Let's take this Sunday to catch our breath and rest for just a minute or two while we let all the Muscle Shoals Meets the 90s magic sink into our souls.
Stay with me this week, MSM friends, as I continue to recap this past Thursday's MSM 90s Country show and offer up a play-by-play debrief of what went down at the Renaissance Shoals last night.
Rock 'n' roll can save the world.
Stay tuned. More to come.
Dig Worms.
