MSM 90s Country: The band
8/14/26
By Monica Collier
You know what? Before I even made it inside the Ritz last night at the Muscle Shoals Meets the 90s Country concert, I overheard a pretty interesting exchange:
MSM fan 1: I thought you didn't like country music.
MSM fan 2: I like it fine but I love live music.
I giggled to myself because I sort of resemble that remark. Me and country music are very much in the midst of a lifetime situationship. I was raised on country, so there's that but me and classic country are more like kin than close friends. Then, I fell in love with 90s country but it ended up forsaking me in the 2010s. You know what I mean? I still fall hard every now and again, though. Good music is good music and live music is everything.
Once the show started, do you want to know the first thing I wrote in my trusty notebook? "90s country guitar is the best."
Speaking of screaming guitars, let's talk about Jordan Denton and guest guitar slinger, Kelvin Holly. Thank you both for reminding me how 90s country freaking rocked so very hard. Good grief at Jordan. He was absolutely on fire last night.
Hey. How about that band, friends? It was truly a hometown all-star band with Shoals swagger for days. Jordan Denton, Nathan Lane, Justin Holder, Wayne Walker, with Donny Carpenter, Scott Todd, the Shoals Sisters -- Marie Lewey and Cindy Walker, Stuart Mills ... y'all, who am I forgetting? Oh my goodness, friends, Scooter Muse shared his talent with us, too. That was so super cool.
Oh, and how about Austin Bohannon bringing the new generation into the MSM fold? Cheering on Addison Myrick, Ty Moore, and Jacob Feltman was really beautiful, friends. Other than the music, one of my favorite things about MSM is how it's a multi-generational experience. We helped usher in the circle expanding, fam. Yep. We did that.
Stay tuned. More to come.
Dig Worms.
