MSM 90s: Good Clean Fun, Mike Dillon

Listen, the first rule of MSM (club) is: You absolutely talk about MSM (club). What? Don't look at me like that. I'm allowed to reference 1990s pop culture while we reflect on the Muscle Shoals Meets the 90s concert that took place back in August at Renaissance Shoals. Right?
Speaking of talking about MSM, it's finally time to talk about that bright shining star of a Shoals icon affectionately known as Grumpy Fiddle. I know I'm not supposed to play favorites (and I truly do love all our precious Fiddleworms the same) but y'all ... there's just something about that drummer.
This seventh performance of the second set of MSM 90s was so very engaging in every single way. Y'all do remember, right? Mike Dillon Curington emerged from behind his drum kit and stood before us holding a microphone. Not only that but lo and behold, friends, he came out of the shadows to gift us an Allman Brothers song. Yeah, I can get behind Mike being front and center more often.
It was big shoes to fill but while Mike Dillon took the spotlight, Grammy-winner, Chad Gamble, took over drumming duties. It was all pretty spectacular and loads of "Good Clean Fun." Yes, this performance was something to talk about and I can't wait to see it again in a few months at Decatur's historic Princess Theatre.
Y'all please indulge me for a minute. Mike Dillon has this natural swagger and witty/clever edge that makes me think of how we're told to let our lights shine. Agreed? What you see is what you get with him. He can sang, too. He's just the coolest guy and this whole performance was pretty dang awesome to boot. How about that?
Can you imagine Mike Dillon doing anything but shining, y'all? I mean, shining in that totally unique got the bluff in on everybody kind of way. Can you imagine him even trying to hide his light under a bushel? I think not. Nope! He couldn't hide that light if he wanted to. Friends, I'm all about his light. I love how it led us all head-on into some "Good Clean Fun" that night back in August.
Friends, I know my rememory isn't what it used to be but I promise I had never heard this song before the MSM concert. Shame on me but, it's impossible to know everything about everything. My sincere gratitude going out to the Fiddleworms and friends for introducing me to my new favorite song.
