MSM 90s: Thunderstruck, Cowgirl Up Collective
10/10/26
By Monica Collier
Hello again, my dear MSM family. Have you missed me? Oh my goodness how I've missed y'all. Absence truly does make the heart grow fonder. MSM is life.
I've so been looking forward to reminiscing about that exhilarating night back in August when Muscle Shoals Meets brought us together to celebrate the 90s. Remember? It was a night of music, friends, and community that culminated in not one but two special needs playgrounds being built at local elementary schools.
Muscle Shoals Meets the 90s Mixtape Week covered all its bases this time around, friends. Turns out, that's the way I like it, too. From 90s grunge, pop, and alternative to jam bands and country, MSM gave us night after night of quality live music that made us smile. The main MSM 90s show sprinkled in some hip hop and even a little bluegrass, too.
Yep. You read that right. Bluegrass. Like I said, Muscle Shoals Meets covered its bases this year, friends. Who had bluegrass on their MSM Bingo card? Not me.
Listen, friends, there is nothing like the feeling of being at a concert and being gifted with a truly unique moment. Maybe your favorite artist brings out a special guest or your favorite band performs your favorite deep cut. Super special moments. Or, maybe you're gifted with a cover of a timeless anthem of a song. Oh, and, how about let's make that unexpected iconic 90s rock anthem cover be bluegrass? Yes, bluegrass.
The night was drawing nigh when we met Cowgirl Up Collective, y'all, and dare I say, lives were changed. This trio pumped adrenaline straight into our hearts with their rendition of AC/DC's "Thunderstruck." It was out of left field in the best sort of way and it was a touchdown homerun.
Julie, Bridget, and Robert on stand up bass, literally rendered us thunderstruck, friends. This was a stunning, jaw-dropping, unexpected MSM 90s moment I'll never forget. We were all smiling ear-to-ear looking to each other in a sort of blissful state of surprise. Oh my goodness, dear precious Fiddleworms ... bluegrass? Yes! Cowgirl Up's rocking bluegrass gifted us an MSM concert gem of a moment to cherish forever.
Thank you, Muscle Shoals Meets, for loving music and community.
Stay tuned. More to come.
Dig Worms.
