MSM Musings: Scott Campbell

Just like "the Shoals" is an inclusive term describing the collaborative convergence of four cities, "Muscle Shoals Meets" has evolved into a collaborative convergence of creativity.

Here's the thing: The Shoals is truly a community that celebrates creativity. The music part of that celebration rises to the top a lot but art, theater, fashion -- these artistic endeavors are equally celebrated in the Shoals, too.

Yesterday, at Rocker Gallery in Sheffield, the Shoals celebrated one of its own. Scott Campbell is a hometown son who represents the all-encompassing artistic nature of the Shoals in a way that makes us all proud. He's a talented musician and artist but most of all friends, Scott is a visionary.

I love an exhibition that tells an artists' story. I love it when an artist is diverse and skilled in a variety of media. Scott is the literal definition of a visionary multimedia artist. Not only is he skilled in fine art, he's a graphic designer and digital media wizard. Scott is a one in a million artist who is well rounded in a way that allows for commercialization without sacrificing humanity. He's a unique soul with a servant's heart, friends.

Around 10 years ago, I (personally) remember really sitting up and taking notice of Scott. His art [helps] define our Shoals identity, friends. Whether it's the Old Railroad Bridge, the Florence-Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau, or Pocket Park, his large scale murals literally capture Shoals history and educate the world about who we are and who we want to be.

We trust Scott to tell our Shoals story and we trust him to tell our MSM story, too. Why is that, friends? It's because he's one of us, y'all. Thank goodness for Scott's willingness to put his talent to work for this hometown we all love dearly.
